If you are looking to check out the local eating scene, you won’t be disappointed. There are a heap of restaurants and bars that cater to most tastes.
Kuala Lumpur Restaurants
Cheap Restaurants
China Town – This is about as cheap as food gets in Kuala Lumpur. There are plenty of food stalls and a couple of hole in the wall restaurants serving hundreds of visitors a night. There are plenty of local delicacies and Chinese food that are safe to eat due to the high-turnover. Expect to pay about $3 for a dish and about $3.50 for a beer. You can get there from almost any part of the city by taxi for around $3 or 10 Ringits.
High End Restaurants
Enak KL - This is an awesome restaurant with possibly the best wine selection in the city. Enak specialises in Malay cuisine and its food is second to none. It’s on the ground floor of the Starhill Gallery (any cab driver will know Star Hill) and is arguably the best Malay restaurant in the city. Expect to pay around $35 per main.

Tarbush – This is a well-regarded Middle Eastern restaurant with high prices and terrible service. The food is good though and it was voted best Middle Eastern restaurant by the well-regarded Malaysian Time Out magazine. Expect to pay about $30 per head.

Chalet Swiss Restaurant – This European cuisine restaurant is located in the Hotel Equatorial just around the corner from the Petronas Towers and has more awards than we can name including the Miele Guide Asian’s Finest Restaurant of 2008/9. You will be very at home here if you enjoy dishes that include Tasmanian Truffle Quail Essence with Baked Gnocchi Florentine or Fried Granache of Dark Cherry Sphere with Mango Passion Sherbert. This is definitely one for food lovers.Expect to pay in the region of RM 300 (US$100) per person.

Bars in Kuala Lumpur
Trader’s Hotel Skybar – With possibly the best view in the city of the Petronas Towers, the Skybar is everything you would expect from chic Asia. It’s beautiful, it’s cool and it’s expensive. But, oh – that view!
