I'm diggin the tips! One thing I find I always tend to forget (especially when on the road!) is the very first one: get frickin closer! My immediate impulse is to want to show everything I'm seeing so I can transport every one of my friends there later (I'd buy em all plane tickets but, you know, I'm a photographer ... & poor), but I seem to always need reminding that often a well-framed image of a single subject can portray an area's atmosphere better than an image so wide it literally includes the area's atmosphere. Thanks for the reminder!

Great tips! I am still looking for a tripod that I can stick in my backpack and yet be stable and reach full height with a DSLR.
